Madaraka Express rolls out new timetable and fares for stopovers
Effective August 1, 2017, Kenya Railways shall introduce stops at various stations in addition to several other changes.
The much awaited county train services is now available with stopover in some stations.
Effective August 1, 2017, Kenya Railways shall introduce stops at Voi in addition to a passenger stop at Mtito Andei.
Passengers will therefore be able to book trains to and from the two stations.
Stoppage at each of these stations will be maximum of five (5) minutes.
Passengers can now also book tickets seven days in advance and a return ticket as long as its within the seven day window unlike now where it is 3 days in advance and no option of return ticket.
Group booking (over 20 pax) must be made nine days prior to travel date, this is great news especially for touring companies who may want to book for their clients.
Exclusive group tickets (Chater services) go for $12 (Sh1200) for economy class while first class tickets cost $36 (Sh3,600)
Persons who are not citizens of any east African community partner states (foreigners) will pay the same fare as Kenyans.
Initially they were to pay $40 (Sh4000) for first class or pat away with $12 (Sh1200) for economy class.
