Kenya’s railway officers leave for China to get firsthand look at the country's railway system
At a cost of $3.6 billion, the railway is Kenya's largest infrastructure project since independence.
The officers, who were chosen from a competitive selective process, will attend a bilateral seminar from May 27 to June 28.
The group will among other things learn about China’s national conditions and the history of China’s railways development.
They are also set to attend special lectures on railway crime and railway fire fighting.

“It is an experience that we are looking forward to, and by the time the seminar comes to a close we will have gathered enough expertise on improving our railway system that has come from far," a senior officer who will be leading the delegation said during the farewell ceremony in Nairobi.
The seminar is part of ongoing efforts between China and Kenya to closely integrate human resources with economic development.
The Chinese-built SGR, that connects Kenya's port city of Mombasa to Nairobi, will mark the first anniversary of its launch in June 2017.At a cost of US$3.6 billion, the railway is the country's largest infrastructure project since independence.
