Magical Kenya pulls all stops to spoil Tokyo Marathon winners and it is heartwarming

After shinning and lifting the Kenyan flag high during the Tokyo Marathon, 2017 it was only proper to reward Kenya’s track heroes and Kenya Tourism Board has just done that.

The state body has pulled all stops to spoil the Kenyan winners in a heartwarming and memorable fashion.

Kenya's Wilson Kipsang ran the fastest-ever marathon on Japanese soil in two hours, three minutes and 58 seconds to win the 2017 Tokyo Marathon.

In the Women’s marathon, Sarah Chepchirchir similarly dazzled with an an impressive time of 2:19:47 to beat Ethiopian pair of Birhane Dibaba and Amane Gobena to emerge the winner.

Kenya Tourism Board today unveiled a reward program for Kenya's marathon champions, in a move aimed at recognising the contribution of the athletes in marketing the country.

Under the campaign of #TembeaKenya to see how much beauty and magic the country has been endowed, Kenya Tourism Board CEO, Dr. Betty Radier hosted Kipsang’s family and Sarah Chepchirchir for a brief and as the pioneers of the reward before the two champs were flown to the Maasai Mara National reserve, after which they will visit the coastal town of Diani.

And the two champs were thoroughly thrilled by reward and enjoyed themselves to no ends.

Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most popular tourism destinations in Kenya- Africa.

Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, and it is for this reason a visitor hardly misses to see the big five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino).

Diani Beach in Kwale County on its hand is one of the best beaches in the world, It was voted seventh best beach in Africa in 2017 by an American travel website, TripAdvisor.

Kenya Tourism Board hopes to inculcate a habit of appreciating and rewarding Kenya’s champions who through their sports excellence have raised the Kenyan flag high on the international stage and in their small way not only market the country but also put Kenya on the world map.
