Kenya's retail chain pumps USD1.5m to open its newest branch in Nairobi as it moves to have 100 branches in the next 3 years
The retailer’s currently has 64branches in Kenya and Uganda.
The retailer pumped Sh150 million to open its newest branch located in Nairobi’s Parklands’ Diamond Plaza II shopping complex.
Tusky’s CEO Dan Githua said the new branch, which brings the retailer’s total footprint to 64 in Kenya and Uganda, is part of a strategy to tap new revenue streams from under-served, high value urban locations.
“We have stepped up our efforts to plug service availability in the high value regions in Nairobi and Mombasa. As part of these plans, we will be opening branches in Karen, Thika Road, Kitisuru and Kiambu Road environs,” said Mr Githua.
Mr. Githua added that Tuskys Supermarkets and its latest subsidiary, Mavazi Lifestyle clothing stores are eyeing more locations in Nairobi and Mombasa hoping to increase their branches to 100 in the next three years.
The new facility covers 35,000 square feet.
