Air hostess who 'jumped off' from Emirates Airline succumbs to her injuries

The Emirates Airline air hostess  whose nationality has not been revealed succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday evening at Kisubi hospital.

The flight, EK730, had just delivered passengers at Entebbe and was preparing to load others for Dubai when the incident happened, according to a source at the airport.

The exact cause of the incident is not yet clear, but some eye witnesses cited possible suicide.

Daily Monitor reported that she had been seen holding what looked like a glass bottle under her chin before she made the fall.

Other witnesses said they had seen her in a verbal exchange with colleagues as they boarded the plane.

She was then rushed to Kisubi hospital 16km (10 miles) away but died soon after, a spokesperson of the hospital said.

Kisubi hospital's spokesperson Edward Zabonna told BBC that the crew member had injuries "all over her face and knees".

He said that she had been "unconscious but alive" when she arrived at the hospital on Wednesday evening but died soon after.

Uganda's aviation authorities have since launched investigations.

It said in a statement that the flight attendant "appeared to have opened the emergency door" and unfortunately "fell off an aircraft that had safely landed and parked".

The Dubai-based airline confirmed the incident and promised its "full cooperation" with the investigation.

"A member of our cabin crew unfortunately fell from an open door while preparing the aircraft for boarding". AFP quoted a statement from Emirates Airline.
