Kenyan among 4 globally to graduate with Rare and Prestigious Master's Degree
The Nuclear Medicine Technology Master's program is the first ever degree of its kind in the United States.
John Gitau Wairimu, along with three other Americans are the first four students to graduate with the first ever Nuclear Medicine Master’s degree in the United States.

Nuclear Medicine involves using radioactive drugs known as radioisotopes and radionuclides for diagnosing, staging and treating diseases such as different types of cancers and heart diseases.
“I have rubbed shoulders with some of the greatest scientists and physicians in the world at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and having learnt from them, I feel ready and confident enough to go out in the World and have an impact in someone’s life,” Gitau was quoted by The Standard.
Wairimu already has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology from the same university and hopes to begin his PhD studies in Healthcare management in 2018.
