This Ugandan police officer is facing a lengthy jail term for eating a meal without paying
A crime preventer has accused the former police officer for eating his meal without paying
Muhammad Kirumira, who previously served as Buyende District Police Commander, has been charged with abuse of office in relation to the incident that has lit up a section of Ugandans on social media.
The plaintiff, Joseph Bukenya, accused Mr Kirumira of forcefully eating the said meal (commonly referred to as rolex) when he was still OC Nansana in 2013 but failed to pay him.
“I want to tell this court that Afande Kirumira is a bad person. He used to eat people’s things without paying. He also ate my Rolex and he did not pay me. I was operating a chapati stall,” Mr Bukenya told the court.
The meal, which comprises fried eggs and rolled inside a chapati, retails for about UGX 1,700 ($1; Sh50) in Kampala.
If found guilty, Mr Kirumira faces up to six years in jail, according to reports.
