The country's lawmakers earn millions per month in salaries and other allowances and it is no surprise to see the opulent lifestyles they have to show for it. From the the expensive fuel guzzlers they drive to the posh places where they wine and dine, these legislators are simply in their own class.
But have you ever pictured how the homes of some these politicians look like? Business Insider has compiled a list of some of their flashy and expensive mansions that will leave you in awe:
1. Raila Odinga
The NASA leader’s house is situated at Riati Hills in Kisumu. The Sh1 billion home has been christened “Raila’s State House.” A state of the art mansion that comprises of 10 bedrooms four expansive kitchens, two main conference rooms, two small conference rooms and a whole host of offices.
In addition, it has an Olympic size swimming pool, several Jacuzzis and a large helipad that can accommodate at least two choppers.
2. William Ruto
The Deputy President’s palatial home in Karen is estimated to be worth a massive Sh500 milion. It sits on a 10 acre piece of land and has among other things, an office block, garage, swimming pool, gazebo, generator house, staff residence and a comptroller’s unit.
Besides the Karen home, the self-proclaimed “hustler” is said to have another posh house in Uasin Gishu, Eldoret which, according to reports, is worth Sh1.2 billion.
3. Mike Sonko
The flamboyant politician and Nairobi Governor is known to live the lavish lifestyle despite many Kenyans who keep questioning his source of wealth.
He is known to have several homes; one in Runda, Mombasa and Mua Hills,Machakos. The magnificent house in Machakos is said to be worth Sh150 million.
4. Evans Kidero
Kidero’s house is located in Nairobi’s Muthaiga estate and is considered a ‘paradise.’ The wealthy politician once disclosed his home after Lawyer Donald Kipkorir paid him a visit and needless to say it is simply dazzling.
5. Ali Hassan Joho
The Mombasa governor is irresistibly rich and never shys away from flaunting his wealth from the cars he drives to the way he dresses. And you can bet that his residence is as well simply dazzling as can be seen below:
6. Ann Waiguru
The one time Devolution Cabinet Secretary who was involved in a scam surrounding the mysterious loss of Sh791 million NYS funds had her home raided by the Anti-Corruption officials.
What emerged later were pictures of her lavish home that surprised many Kenyans. Located in Kihingo Village Estate, Kitisuru, Waiguru’s houses is said to be worth Sh150 million
