This voter had his eyes set on delivering a birthday cake to President Kenyatta—but it didn't go as planned

Oct 26 is not just election day for President Kenyatta but it also marks his 56th birthday.

Kenyans on Thursday morning streamed to polling stations to cast their votes in the country's divisive Presidential repeat election following the withdrawal of Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

It is the second election in just over two months after the Supreme Court overturned the Aug 8 vote that gave President Kenyatta victory.

In Gatundu South constituency, the President's rural town and voting ground, voters turned up in large numbers as they expressed their admiration for the Head of State.

While some of them donned in colourful regalia complete with all colours of the national flag with others bringing flowers, one voter had a rather special way of celebrating Mr.Kenyatta.

And it is for that reason that saw Shadrack Mwangi show up at the Mutomo primary school polling centre with a cake to celebrate the President's birthday.

Shadrack said he brought the cake to thank Uhuru for the wonderful work he had done in the past five years as the country's leader.

He told local TV station NTV that he hoped to deliver it to him once he arrived to cast his vote.

But his dreams were somewhat shattered as he was unable to deliver the cake to the Head of State soon after he cast his vote alongside First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.

This perhaps due to the fact that Uhuru is accorded tight security hence making it impossible for Shadrack to reach him in a voting centre that was full of Jubilee party supporters.

The President, while addressing the voters shortly after voting, assured the country that adequate security would be provided for all Kenyans willing to participate in today’s voting process.
