Uganda's President says he is forever indebted to Kenyans for saving him from 'highly addictive' drink

The 73 year old leader has in the past said he is a picky eater and there are certain foods and drinks he never touches.

During the official opening of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) in Kampala, Mr. Museveni urged the legislators to promote integration and said he was eternally grateful to Kenyans from liberating him from ‘highly addictive’ Coca-Cola drink, a soft drink sold by the Coca-Cola Company associated with diabetes when taken in huge amounts.

“In 1965, Kenyans liberated me from Coca-Cola. The beverage was the only decent drink one would find then. One day, I came across packed milk, KCC, from Kenya. I stopped drinking Coca-Cola but also began contributing to the prosperity of Kenyan farmers by consuming their milk.” He tweeted.

The 73 year old leader has in the past said he is a picky eater and there are certain foods and drinks he never touches such as fish, chicken, pork, alcohol and Coca-Cola.

He attributes his longevity ‘youthful looks and good health to consuming locally produced foods and lots of milk which is rich in calcium and improves the strength of bones, ensures smoother skin and a stronger immune system from his Ankole cows.

“When we were in Ethiopia, USA President Obama (Former) commented that I look young. I forgot to tell him that it’s because I eat Ugandan grown foods,” he said at a past EALA event.

In July, last year while launching the Lugwere Bible in Budaka District the president said that he had not fallen sick in the last 31 because he observes health living and healthy habits.

“Have you ever heard that Museveni has fallen sick and my legs hanged in hospital, for the last 31 years? This is because I observe some of these health tips [practices] which have eventually helped me to prevent some of these diseases. Many of the diseases are preventable,” Mr Museveni said.

Sources close to the president indicate he takes millet porridge or bushera for his breakfast.

His breakfast menu comprises milk tea, bananas and fruit salads and he enjoys vegetable sandwiches too. These foodstuffs, according to nutritionists, are low-cholesterol, rich in vitamins and other nutrients that boost body immunity, including reducing growth of cancer cells.

And perhaps to ensure he never runs out of milk and be tempted to grab a bottle of Coca-Cola and open happiness, Museveni owns an impressive breed of Ankole cows.
