African Presidents congratulate President Uhuru Kenyatta minutes after winning 2nd term

International election monitors and the African Union have announced the election was free and fair.

African Presidents lined up to congratulate Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta minutes after his big win.

Mr. Kenyatta successfully defended his seat by getting a second term in office.

He was declared winner on Friday evening by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries commission at Bomas of Kenya.

Kenyatta garnered 8,203,290 (54.27%) votes against his closest political rival NASA Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga who garnered 6,762,224 (44.74%) votes, according to the official results,

President Uhuru also attained the constitutional requirement of attaining at least 25% of votes in at least 24 counties by securing 25% in 35 counties.

Within minutes of being declared winner, tweets from African presidents full of congratulatory messages started streaming in.
