Kenyan opposition moves to Supreme Court to challenge elections outcome

According to the IEBC results, Kenyatta garnered 8,203,290 (54.27%) votes against his closest political rival NASA Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga's 6,762,224 (44.74%) votes to secure victory.

Kenya went to the polls on August 8th after which the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on 12th August declared incumbent Uhuru Kenyataa the winner in the president elections.

National Super Alliance (NASA)  flag bearer, Raila Odinga however claimed the elections were rigged and urged all their supports to reject it.

Addressing journalists at his  Okoa Kenya secretariat office on Wednesday at Lavington, Mr. Odinga  declared he would once again file a petition with the Supreme Court of the country.

"Kenyans say no to computer-generated leaders."  For the third straight election in a row the voice of the people has been stolen and for the third time in a ticket the candidate who lost the elections has been declared the president.”

There were fears that Mr. Odinga would call for mass protests  after NASA  chief agent and a vocal critic of the government, Siaya Senator, James Orengo had said earlier going to court was not an option.

Raila however explained calling for mass action would be falling prey to the Jubilee government .

“We had said we would not go to court but with the raid of the civil society  and determination to silence all voices that could seek legal redress like the AFRICOG and the Kenya Human Rights Commission, we have now decided to move to the Supreme Court  and lay before the world the making of a computer generated leadership” Raila said.

“We will not accept and move on, this is just the beginning,”  the opposition leader finalised.
