Kenya's first crop of female governors smell early victory

Provincial results from the National tallying center shows that former devolution cabinet secretary,Anne Waiguru who is gunning to be elected Kirinyaga governor has taken an early lead from her fierce female competitor, former Justice minister Martha Karua.
Ms. Waiguru, running on the Jubilee party had already garnered 115,526 (54.95%) votes compared to Karua running on Narc Kenya party who had only managed to garner 83,725 (39.82%) by the time of going to the press.
So far, 474 out of 659 polling stations have relayed their results to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
191775 valid votes were cast and 2934 votes rejected.
In Bomet County, deputy speaker and Sotik member of Constituency, Dr. Joyce Laboso similarly took an early lead from the start.
Provincial results indicate Laboso running on the Jubilee ticket already has 156,989 (67.73%) votes compared to the incumbent, Isaac Rutto running on Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party only garnering 74,781 (32.27%).
Rutto was one of the principals of the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition.
A total of 231,770 valid voters were cast and 5094 votes rejected.
In Kitui County, Former lands cabinet secretary, Charity Ngilu running on Narc party was also leading by the time of going to press.
she was leading with 113,285 (48.1%) votes followed by David Musila (74,885) running as an independent candidate and the incumbent, Dr. Julius Malombe coming a distant third with 47,340 votes according to the provincial results.
A total of 235,510 valid votes were cast and 2,941 rejected.
