Kenya's President security detail pull stunt at ANC gala dinner

The African National Congress (ANC) on Saturday held a dinner on the eve of the partys 106th birthday celebration at the East London International Convention Centre.

Some of the high profile guests in attendance was South Africa President Jacob Zuma, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, Former African Union chairperson, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa among others.

Mr Ramaphosa, who is on the race to succeed Mr. Zuma congratulated President Kenyatta for winning last year’s election and stated that ANC and Jubilee party would work together to cement and strengthen the relations between the people of the two countries.

“We also welcome members of Jubilee party that have travelled with you. Their presence have extended good and warm relations between ANC and Jubilee party,” Mr Ramaphosa said.

According to News 24, President Uhuru made quite an entrance with his entourage.

What however stood out and left many guest shaking their heads was the fact that Uhuru’s security detail refused to sit throughout the proceedings.

Maybe perhaps out to prove Kenya’s legendary stamina or make sure nothing touches even the president's hair be it chair or door like it did on the first day of his trip to South africa..

According to a video which was widely circulated on social media, Mr. Kenyatta who had just landed in South Africa was hit by the heavy armoured car door as he was getting out after the security detail opened the vehicle’s door while standing on the wrong side.

The heavy left door swung back, hitting President Kenyatta who was busy buttoning his coat while exiting the car.

After the celebrations, President Kenyatta jetted back into the country on Sunday evening after a three-day official visit that consolidated the bilateral ties between South Africa and Kenya.
