Kenya's Deputy Chief Justice driver shot, gun stolen

Deputy Chief Justice, Philomena Mwilu driver has been shot.

Titus Musyoka, personal driver of Philomena was shot and wounded near Marsabit Plaza in Hurlingham area and robbed of his gun by unknown individuals.

It is not yet clear the circumstances under which the driver was shot or if the Deputy Chief Justice was the one being targeted.

At about 5pm, a gang opened fire on her official car after, luckily the Deputy CJ was not inside as the driver had just dropped her at her home in Karen according to sources.

The driver was rushed to Nairobi Women's Hospital.

The attack comes barely a month after Chief Justice David Maraga called on the government to provide adequate security on Judges.

On September, after nullifying the August 8th Presidential elections, Maraga slammed the Inspector General, Joseph Boinnet for ignoring calls to act, exposing judicial officers, property and litigants to danger.

“JSC notes with dismay that the Inspector General of Police, who is expected to provide security to all government facilities, has repeatedly ignored calls to act." He said.
