Joel Embiid had the best game of his young career and then appeared to troll Lonzo Ball

Joel Embiid put up a stat line never before seen in NBA history, and helped the Sixers to their best 14-game start since 2012.

  • Joel Embiid had the best game of his young career and put up a stat line that no player in NBA history has ever recorded in the Philadelphis 76ers' Wednesday night win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
  • After the game, Embiid trolled Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball on social media.
  • With Embiid coming into his own surrounded by a slew of young talent and solid role players, the Sixers are going to be a team to watch in the coming years.

Joel Embiid dominated the Lakers on Wednesday night in the best game of his young career.

With 46 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists, and 7 blocks, Embiid put up a stat line never before seen in NBA history in just 34 minutes of work, leading the Sixers to a 115-109 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Embiid's passing was also quite eye-catching, most notably with Ben Simmons, whom he found wide open on a few occasions to lead to easy baskets.

After the game, Embiid was clearly pleased with his performance, and took to social media to take what some would view as a dig at Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball. Ball finished the night with just two points, five rebounds, and two assists, shooting 1-9 from the field.

WHAT A NIGHT #TheProcess <a... @ Joel Embiid

Embiid would later clarify that he meant no ill will towards Lonzo with the post.

I like Lonzo#emo#s game... no s... @ Joel Embiid

Regardless of the meanings of his enigmatic social media posts, Embiid is proving that he was well worth the wait for Philadelphia basketball fans. With two seasons spent getting healthy and limited playing time last season since he was drafted with the third overall pick in 2014, Sixers fans have long imagined what kind of player Embiid could be if he got healthy and was able to contribute.

Games like the one Embiid had on Wednesday night only make Philadelphians more and more sure that their mantra of "Trust the Process" was not for naught. With Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons at the center of a youthful core, talented role players like Robert Covington, J.J. Redick, and T.J. McConnell all contributing, and Markelle Fultz waiting in the wings to add an extra level of creativity to the offense once he returns from injury, the Sixers are a team that feels built for the future.
