Samsung officially unveils Galaxy S9 and S9+ in Kenya (photos)

Among other features, Galaxy S9 and S9+ comes with a new dual aperture lens that powers an innovative low light camera, Super Slow-mo video capabilities that ensures you never miss a moment and a personalized AR Emoji.

Speaking at the launch, Charles Kimari, Head of Internet and Mobile Division said that they were proud to present to the Kenyan consumer the smartphones that have been designed for the way we increasingly communicate and express ourselves with images, videos and emojis.

“Samsung Electronics is introducing the next innovation in camera technology as this is our most advanced camera ever. The way we use our smartphones has changed as communication and self-expression has evolved and our aim is to ensure that the consumer does not miss the chance to capture that special moment in life.”

The firm announced that it had received 2,200 local pre-orders for the Samsung 9 and Samsung 9+ (plus) one and half weeks to the official unveiling in Kenya.

Among other features, Galaxy S9 and S9+ comes with a new dual aperture lens that powers an innovative low light camera, Super Slow-mo video capabilities that ensures you never miss a moment and a personalized AR Emoji.

In addition, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ comes with the new SmartThings app, which unites Samsung’s existing IoT services into one single, smart experience.

The devices also deliver an enhanced entertainment experience with powerful stereo speakers tuned by AKG, surround sound supported by Dolby Atmos and a refined edge-to- edge Infinity Display – a key staple in Samsung’s design heritage.

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ has 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch displays and 4GB and 6GB memory respectively.

Samsung Galaxy also has the ability to translate languages using the phone’s camera ensuring owners traveling abroad or anywhere where their language skills aren’t quite at their best, they can point their phone’s camera at a sign and get what’s printed on it translated into something you understand a little better.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be retailing at Sh84,999 and Sh94,999 respectively and will be available at all Samsung Experience Stores, Safaricom shops and authorized dealers across the country.

Customers can choice between three colour options of Midnight Black, Titanium Gray and a new hue, Lilac Purple.

With every purchase of any of two devices, consumers will receive a Ksh1,500 e-voucher redeemable for any S9/S9+ genuine Samsung accessory of their choice.

Barclays Bank Platinum and Gold Barclaycard holders can purchase the device through an easy instalment payment plan at 0% interest.

Samsung Electronics has also extended dedicated after sales service to consumers who purchase the Galaxy S9 and S9+.

Consumers  within Nairobi area can call Samsung toll free number (0800 545 545) for any Galaxy S9 and S9+ service queries and a VIP Smart Van service.
