The statement couldn’t be truer especially in Africa where more and more Women are running the show in homes and in workplaces.

The African tech space has been dominated by men for decades but not anymore, African women are beginning to claim their space and footing and creating some of the continent's best creations.

Here are just a few African women blessed with beauty and brains who are behind some of Africa’s best creations.

Farida Nana Efua Bedwei

Farida is a Ghanian software engineer who was born with celebral palsy, a neurological disorder.

Despite her condition she is the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Logiciel Ltd, a software company which develops banking systems for the microfinance industry.

Prior to co-founding Logiciel, Farida worked in the telecom software industry, developing mobile gateways and services for mobile networks and content providers.

Farida is also the author of Definition of a Miracle and has been featured on many media platforms, including CNN African Voices in February 2015.

She is also the recipient of a number of local and international awards.

She was named among 100 Most Influential Young Africans in 2016 and she is a Young Global Leader with the World Economic Forum.

Bayo Adelaja

Bayo is a Nigerian entrepreneur based in United Kingdom.

She is the founder of Crowdfunding company called Do it Now Now, which aims to empower the people of the diaspora to contribute to their community in Africa.

Her work in Health Population and Society as a Social Care Researcher in the United Kingdom means she is constantly looking at new ways to advise large charities and governments on how they should spend their money in terms of health interventions, In a way, inspired her to found Do it Now Now (DiNN).

Evelyn Namara

Evelyn is the founder of !nnovate Uganda, a technology company that builds technological interventions for sustainable development.

The company's flagship product M-Voucher was selected as a winner at the World Summit Awards (2016) as one of the world's best digital content in the category of fighting poverty, hunger, and disease.

Evelyn is passionate about Technology for Development (ICT4D), Youth and Entrepreneurship as well as empowering women in technology.

Nneile Nkholise

Nneile Nkholise is a social entrepreneur and the founder of Likoebe Group which focuses on creating innovations that contribute immensely towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals in Africa.

She is also the founder and director of iMED Tech Group, a South African company which uses Additive Manufacturing (AM) to design breast and facial prostheses for cancer and burn victims.

Her company stands out as it only employs African women under the age of 30 with research backgrounds in mechanical engineering.

She has been recognised as Africa’s top female innovator at the World Economic Forum on Africa held in Rwanda, 2016.

She is also part of Tony Elumelu Foundation, top 1000 entrepreneurs in Africa which recognizes social entrepreneurs leading impactful social ventures and also part of Discovery MedTech Silicon-Valley programme for 2016.

Lilian Makoi

Lilian is a Multi-award winning Financial and Digital Inclusion expert and a graduate of University of Dar es salaam Business School.

She was crowned the Tanzania Annual Young Professionals Awards winner 2015 & 2016.

She is the founder of bimaAFYA, a mobile micro-health insurance product for the low-income population.
