Here are the top reasons why Verizon subscribers would leave for another telecom:

  • Nearly 40% of Verizon's subscribers said they'd switch to another carrier for the ability to stream video over mobile without it counting against their data cap.
  • That's followed closely by AT&T subscribers, 34% of whom said they'd switch for this feature. A significantly lower portion of T-Mobile's and Sprint's customers said the same.
  • Nearly one-quarter of Verizon's subscribers said they'd switch for the ability to roll over unused mobile data.
  • That's a considerably larger share than the 18% of AT&T's subscribers and 11% of T-Mobile's subscribers who said the same.
  • Interestingly, Verizon offers both free streaming and rollover data — but its versions of these offerings are too restrictive.
  • Verizon does offer some free streaming packages, but they're for exclusive and limited types of content. For example, to be eligible for one of Verizon's free streaming services, Verizon customers must also be Fios subscribers. Also, Verizon's rollover plan only allows customers to carry over data for one month.
