The Court of Appeal ruled in favour of the electoral body allowing the Dubai-based firm, Al Ghurair Printing and Publication company to continue printing the ballot papers.

The decision overturned an earlier ruling by the High Court which blocked Al Ghurair from printing the Presidential ballot papers.

High Court had stated that the IEBC had not upheld public participation during its procurement process.

However, the Court of Appeal in its ruling noted that direct procurement was not against the constitution.

“The trial court erred when it imposed requirement for public participation," the court stated.
