Kenyatta dismissed the calls made by NASA leaders that he must vacate office if repeat elections are not conducted within the 60-days deadline stipulated in the constitution.
According to Kenyatta, he would only agree to vacate the presidency after Kenyans have voted and made a choice on their next President.
The head of stated cautioned the NASA team that they would not benefit even if they succeeded in sabotaging the repeat elections.

“If they frustrate the election, I'm telling them in broad daylight, Uhuru Kenyatta will remain President until Kenyans vote and decide," the President warned on Tuesday evening when he met with leaders from Narok.
The possibility of not having the repeat election before the October 31 deadline has raised fears of a constitutional crisis.
Siaya Senator James Orengo has insisted that President Kenyatta’s government would lose its mandate if elections are not held by October 31.
“If election is not done within 60 days, Uhuru will cease being the president at the end of duration,” Orengo stated.
The veteran lawyer appeared to be reading from his party leader Raila Odinga’s script who has stated that President Kenyatta’s term had ended on August 8.

“Article 134 up to 140 of the Constitution states clearly the powers of an acting President. It's basically, a lame duck President. If he is happy with that and enjoys it, fine,” Odinga stated in a recent interview on NTV.
