Chiloba speaks on quitting IEBC ahead of NASA protests

Embattled IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba has maintained that he wont quit the electoral body ahead of the planned protests by NASA on Tuesday.

Chiloba's announcement comes after the Opposition announced they would hold demos outside the IEBC offices until the commissioners exited office.

Speaking to a local daily, the CEO stated that he was solely focused on preparing the fresh presidential polls.

"People should focus on preparations for the elections," Chiloba was quoted by the Star.

Chiloba's sentiments come after IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati requested NASA to call off the planned protests.

Chebukati urged the Opposition to cancel the demos and allow the electoral body to engage them and Jubilee on Wednesday with regard to the issues they had raised concerning the presidential election.

However, the Opposition has turned down the request with NASA co-principal Moses Wetanfula declaring that the protests will go on as planned.

"IEBC has failed to address our demands.We’re going to demonstrate at IEBC offices," the Bungoma senator said.
