Matiang’i Orders NASA Boss to Pay for Property Destroyed During Demos

Matiang'i warned that the official was personally liable for the violence.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has revealed that one of NASA’s high ranking officials will be personally liable for the property destroyed during this week’s anti-IEBC demonstrations.

Matiang’i stated that any loss caused by the demonstrators would be surcharged on the individual organisers of the protests.

The Cabinet Secretary stated that this week’s license was obtained by Norman Magaya, the CEO of the NASA Secretariat, adding that the official would have to compensate businessmen and residents whose property was stolen or destroyed.

“On the 6 of October 2017, the police were notified by one Norman Magaya, allegedly the CEO, of the demonstrations that have taken place this week. He will be charged with destruction of property during anti-IEBC demos,” Matiang’i stated.

He further called on Nairobi residents and businessmen who suffered any losses in the NASA demos to record statements with the OCS, Nairobi Central police station.
