NASA Makes Last Minute Changes in IEBC Protests

This is it

Speaking during a press conference on Monday, Bungoma Senator and NASA co-principal Moses Wetangula divulged that the Opposition will not storm the electoral body’s premises at Anniversary Towers as earlier planned.

Wetangula mentioned that NASA will instead hold peaceful walks around Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) protesting against the Commission.

The Senator noted that the Opposition will not back down from demonstrating even after IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati requested them to do so.

He highlighted that NASA will not accept anything less than the electoral body adhering to the irreducible minimums it issued.

“The commission, nonetheless, recognising your inalienable constitutional right to picket and demonstrate, writes to request that you put off the planned protest to enable the joint consultative meeting scheduled for Wednesday (tomorrow) to address the concerns raised by the various parties,” Wetangula noted.

NASA leaders have vowed not to participate in the fresh presidential election if IEBC does not comply with some of their demands.

Some of the core issues NASA has raised include:

1 Fresh election must conform with the Constitution and the law, as ordered by the Supreme Court.

2. Full accountability for the August 8 election, IEBC Officers under investigations MUST step aside.

3. We demand officers under investigation MUST be suspended, resign or retire voluntarily.

4. All suppliers must be cleared of acts of commission or omission in the illegalities and irregularities that led to annulment.
