Why NASA has cancelled anti-IEBC demos

NASA made the announcement on Monday evening following a decision by it's principals.

Through a statement by Raila Odinga's spokesman, Dennis Onyango said it was meant to allow NASA leaders visit protestors who had been injured by police officers during demos.  "This is a temporary step to enable the coalition to attend to the supporters who were brutalized and hurt and families that lost loved ones today (Monday) after police and State-protected goons descended on protesters and Nasa leaders," part of the statement read.

The countrywide protests will now resume on Wednesday. On Monday, a student was allegedly shot and killed by police under unclear circumstances.Last week on Friday, 3 people were killed in Kisumu County and 17 hospitalised with bullet wounds.Odinga has maintained that the protests will go on until IEBC commissioners resign and the electoral body meets the Oppositions' ''irreducible minimums".

The Opposition has been pushing for the resignation of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and 8 other commissioners. At the same time, President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday warned that police would deal with anyone who interrupted businesses or destroyed property during the protests.
