Bahati shuts down Ksh 200,000 fraud allegations, says he's never been arrested in his life

The gospel sensation had been accused of swindling 'his business partner' of Ksh.200.000.

Days after his traditional wedding to Diana Marua, a man identified as Thuranira Kathia accused Bahati of swindling him out of Sh 200,000 under the guise of being business partners.

According to Thuranira, he gave Bahati Ksh 200,000 to start up a business two months ago but instead of investing the money, Bahati reportedly pocketed it for himself.

Thuranira had reported the matter to the Karuri Police Station in Ruaka, where he was assured that Bahati had been arrested but was reportedly released shortly after the County Commander received orders from above to release him.

“Bahati is using senior government officials’ influence to block me from accessing justice. Bahati should know that he is not above the law, and no one is. I have instructed my lawyer to address the matter. I want to assure Bahati that he won’t escape the grip of law. He has just postponed his arrest.”

Bahati has since rubbished the allegations saying that he has never been arrested before.

“I have never been arrested in my life, even when I was in the ghetto, and that is spoiling my name because you don’t even have my mugshot,” he was quoted by Kiss 100.

According to Bahati, his accuser chickened out of pursuing him for the money once he learnt that the matter would be moving to court.

“So the police have been told to investigate the matter, and if he doesn’t prove his allegations, it will be a court case. But he’s been looking for me and the management asking for forgiveness. But one thing I’m sure about is that I must be paid for this accusations.”

Bahati’s manager had also, earlier on, dismissed the allegations calling Thuranira an attention seeker who is using Bahati’s fame to get traction.

He said, “I heard that a man going by the name Thuranira made claims on social media that Bahati defrauded him of Sh200,000. I want to catergorically say that Thuranira is an attention seeker, who is looking for publicity through Bahati. Bahati did not and has not borrowed money from the so called Thuranira.”

Thuranira has since been sued for defamation.
