Rapper's Common Ground Foundation grants tuition scholarship to Nigerian man

He made the announcement via his Instagram on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, where a picture of him and the recipient was displayed.
The MC whose real names are Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr. aims at using the charity organization to "empower underprivileged youth to be strong citizens and citizens of the world." The Common Ground Foundation which also has a book club targets building the capacity of young people through "leadership development & empowerment, educational development, creative expression."
Common, who doubles as an actor is known for his pro-black activism which borders on preaching about the dignity of the people of colour. This is evident in many of his songs which focus on themes of anti-slavery and segregation of the black community in America.

His intense interest and support for his race has seen him feature in movies portraying the challenges of the blacks in a white dominated America. His role in the movie "Selma" saw him play the character of civil rights activist, James Bevel.
The rapper is also one of the voices against the killing of black people by white cops in America. He posted a recent video via Instagram which showed the encounter between a white policeman and a belligerent youth. It was an emotional scene for most of the black people in America as many believed that the officer in question will have shot the youngster if he was black.
Another issue involving the enslavement of Africans in Libya also saw common bringing the attention of the world to the injustice against the black people. He posted a video documentary courtesy the CNN where a group of investigative journalists uncovered a secret slave auction.
