Eric Omondi must be arrested and put under medical test – Consumers Federation of Kenya

Kenyans are up in arms with the Comedian

According to the independent body, Omondi should be arrested and put under medical test to ascertain whether his acts were deliberate or if he is unwell.

“THE VIDEO in which comedian Eric Omondi is totally nude and playing with naked children in water is a tragedy. He has crossed the red line of indecent exposure and must be arrested, and put under medical test to ascertain whether it’s deliberate or if he is unwell ” wrote COFEK on their official Twitter handle

Formed in 2010, COFEK is committed to consumer protection, education, research, consultancy, litigation, anti-counterfeits campaign and business rating on consumerism and customer-care issues.

Their mandate as an independent body was drawn from Article 46 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, the Consumer Protection Act, 2012 and the Competition Act, Cap 504 among other statutes. The legal framework provides high thresholds for consumer protection in all spheres and for both private and public sectors.

The statement comes at a time when the celebrated comedian is on the receiving end after his video surfaced online, showing swimming in a river while totally naked.

Kenyans went ham on the comedian with many expressing their disappointments, on why a celebrity of his status could scope so low.

The KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua also added his weight on the Eric Omondi’s video stating that the it is a violation of Kenya Film Classification Board's classification guidelines under Cap 222 and also the Children's Act.

“Using children in a manner like Eric Omondi did in the name of comedy is wrong. How sad that anyone looks up to this clown for a role model!

“Eric Omondi's video is the evidence that some of our so called celebrities are vain and are obsessed with sexualisation of content at the expense of decency.

“Eric Omondi's video is in violation of kenya Film Classification Board's classification guidelines under Cap 222 but also the Children's Act. The parents of minors should sue Eric for the gross abuse and indecent exposure of their kids.” Wrote Ezekiel Mutua

City Pastor Robert Burale also reacted to the video after the comedian issued an apology to his fans and Kenyans at large.

“He has apologized for his error and I am great believer in Forgiveness....It takes a strong human being to apologise ...Love conquers all ....Keep your head up bro ” shared Robert  Burale

“I have been a comedian all my life... Many are the times that I have errored... Today was one of those days. I have offended so many. I did not in any way intend to offend anyone...I AM DEEPLY SORRY FOR THAT”
