It was a costly mistake!

Diamond’s brother and WCB vice president Romy Jons recently predicted that the downfall of Wasafi would be women but it seems that legal drama might overtake the ladies.
A few days after Diamond’s child support case was heard in court and his manager Babutale was fined Sh11 million for illegally using a recorded religious video belonging to popular motivational speaker Sheikh Mbonde, Wasafi is handling another legal issue.
This is after Msondo Ngoma demanded 300 Million Tanzania shillings (13,789,574 Kshs)as compensation from Wasafi Records for illegally sampling Msondo’s song ‘Ajari’ and using it for the song ‘Zilipendwa’ by Diamond Platnumz featuring other Wasafi musicians.
The bone of contention is a 15-second saxophone melody which was created and played by Msondo for 14 seconds in their song ‘Ajari’ which the group described as one of the biggest songs to come out of Tanzania.
The compensation money is to be paid within 7 days and failure to do so, the aggrieved party will take legal action against Wasafi at ‘their own peril as to costs and expenses incurred in legal litigations.’
This accusation comes a few months after Diamond was accused of copying Davido’s ‘Fall’ for his hit song Eneka. Accusations which Diamond’s producer Lizer denied claiming that the beats of the two songs are similar because they belong to the same genre.
