The Tanzanian government has issued a new statement that is likely to affect Tanzania crooner Diamond Platnumz.

The government through Assistant Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Juliana Shonza has revealed that the law of Tanzania does not allow a musician to perform a form that has been banned even if it is in a different country adding that doing that is going against the law.

This statement comes hours after Diamond Platnumz unveiled his album in Kenya. Diamond sang a couple of songs that have been featured in his album including Waka

Diamond Platnumz performed Waka which he featured Rick Ross which had been prohibited from being played in Tanzania.

The assistant minister further stated that they not only want their music to grow but also prosper while preserving the Tanzanian culture.

Diamond Platnumz’s songs Waka and Halleluyah were recently banned by the Magufuli led government on basis that they violate norms and values.

The announcement was made through Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) on receiving a list of the songs from the National Arts Council of Tanzania.

In a statement sent to the media, the council said the song’s lyrics have gone against ethics of regulations of broadcasting services (Content) 2005.

During an interview with Classic 105, the self-made star said he has not received official communication that his songs have been banned adding that he is yet to speak to the minister of information regarding the issue.

Other than Diamond’s songs other that were banned included; Pale Kati Patamu by Ney wa Mitego, Chura and Nimevurugwa by Snura, Hainaga Ushemeji by Manifongo, I’m Sorry JK by Nikki Mbishi, Kibamia by Roma Mkatoliki, Tema Mate Tumchape by Madee, Uzuri Wako by Jux, Nampa Papa by Gigy Money.
