Our cousin lured my brother into drugs –Eric Omondi opens up

The brother passed on on Tuesday due to drug addiction

Omondi revealed that his brother started abusing drugs while in high school and they suspect that their female cousin introduced the deceased.

“We had a cousin who was dating a white man. She is the one who we knew was using drugs. When Joseph started hanging out with her she must have introduced him to the vice. As soon as the family discovered that Joseph was abusing and possibly selling drugs (mostly cocaine) they began offering help. At one time I had set up a clothes business in Kisumu. I was hoping that he would keep himself busy with productive work and forget about drugs,” said Eric Omondi

He added that, the moment they discovered his brother was into drugs, they tried to help him and at one point he set up a business for him in Kisumu but the brother ran away leaving the business with no one to manage.

Rehabilitation

Eric narrated that he even lost count of the times his brother had been in and out of Rehab due to drug addiction.

“I was hoping that he would keep himself busy with productive work and forget about drugs. He would come out clean and then, out of the blues, slip out of our sight and go missing. We would only get calls from places as far as Mombasa: “Come pick your brother. He is in Mombasa. He is very high.” Recalls Eric Omondi

“This is not the last image I would have wanted to post of my brother... But this is definitely the image I want every young person in this Country to see!!! Joseph Onyango Omondi passed on this morning around 3am, barely 12 hours after I found him in Downton River Road. He was addicted to Cocaine and other substances and was in and out of Rehab for the past 19 years. May God himself take charge.” Shared Eric Omondi
