Speaking during Hot 96’s interactive morning show, Jalang’o disclosed that his Mwiki neighbours; who were all Kikuyu’s rescued him from the arms of death.
Jeff Koinange has always been intrigued with the way Jalang’o speaks fluent Kikuyu. His anxiety prompted him to ask Jalang’o how he got to learn the language. The comedian was forced to share the ordeal that taught him Kikuyu language.

Jalang’o reveals how difficult it was being at the Centre of Kikuyu’s at a time when Luo and Kikuyu were political rivals. The then political temperature forced him to remain indoors all through until things got back to normal.
The talented jalang’o is appreciative of his neighbors for their philanthropism in the role they played of always being available and ready to get him food.
One Charles Wanjiku played a pivotal role in the comedian’s life. He housed him and provided him meals as he began his career.
The story teller attributes his vast knowledge of Kikuyu language to that particular time. Waking up everyday hearing a language he did not understand pushed him to start learning Kikuyu.
Using the train every day from Mwiki taught him also taught him some kikuyu lines. ‘Mugithii kwet ema’ which means the train is full was the first kikuyu word he learnt.

‘Muthoni Wa’ was a name given to Jalang’o following the close relationship he had with his neighbors.
The fateful experience taught Jalang'o to appreciate each and every tribe despite any difference no matter the situation.
