Kambua reveals how ex-boyfriend publicly fat shamed her

There was this time I remember he said “you ate a whole chapo by yourself - Kambua.

Kambua, through her Youtube channel, took a trip down memory lane to when she dated her ex-boyfriend, fresh out of high school.

“Many years ago, I was dating this guy and I was living life on the chubbiest side of life. I was a lot heavier than I am basically, I was fresh from high school, I had put on a lot of weight in high school and I met this guy. We liked each other so we started dating but this guy had a serious issue with my weight and he was constantly showing me different exercises, he had a lot of advice to give me,” she narrated.

The workouts regime suggestions were strike one for Kambua.

Her ex didn’t stop at just suggesting workout regimes for Kambua as he would also regularly comment on the amount of food that she ate.

“There was this time I remember he said “you ate a whole chapo by yourself.”

That was strike two.

Strike three came about when her and her ex-boyfriend went out on a date to a fast food restaurant.

Her ex had ordered for two pieces of chicken – one each – and a packet of fries for the both of them to share.

“So, we started eating and I’m eating very slowly, I’m nibbling on my chicken taking a fry here and there and then half way through the meal he goes like I don’t think you should eat anymore, he takes the fries and continues eating.”

“Then as I’m eating my chicken he was like “are you going to finish that Kay?” and I handed my chicken over to him and everything inside me was like a mixture of balancing my tears feeling humiliated, I was hungry and angry.”

To retaliate for the disastrous date and humiliation that she faced, Kambua decided to eat her feelings out by going to the nearest bakery and stuffed herself with cake.

The relationship was undoubtedly over after that but Kambua learnt a valuable lesson from being in that relationship.

“The relationship obviously did not last but what I learned from it is that don’t be with somebody who body shames you. Whether you are skinny or chubby, whatever it is. Whether you have stretch marks or you have acne; don’t allow yourself to be with somebody that body shames you.

Be with somebody who celebrates who you are in every season of your life and if you have a weakness or are struggling with something then they are able to help you work through that struggle not putting you down because of it.

Her final word to anybody that finds themselves in such a relationship is to get out as soon as possible.
