Before his untimely death, Samuel was reported missing and was last seen on Monday 14 May 2018 at Mountain View Estate.

Kenyan metal band Last Year's Tragedy broke the sad news with a series of tweets that read:

“It is with a heavy heart that we must share the sad news of the passing of one of our closest friends, Sam Kiranga.

Those who've been in the scene long enough know how many stages we shared together, and how many shows we've been to in support of each other's bands. We love him like a brother, and always will.

In the hearts and souls of all the people who have had the pleasure of working, playing and being a part of the amazing music he created, he will most certainly live on.

Please take a moment of silence to honour a great guitarist, singer-songwriter, band mate, but more importantly, friend.

Rest now, Sam. Till we meet (and rock) again. We love you, brother.”
