I had a public meltdown - Lilian Muli finally opens up on viral video insulting a waitress

She has finally addressed the controversial video

In the video Lilian was seen having a verbal altercation with a waitress at a popular restaurant over what, judging from the video, was a case of poor services rendered.

Things got so bad that the anchor ended up insulting the waitress saying that “This b*tch has an attitude”.

The video took the internet by storm with many condemning Lilian for her actions.

Well, the news anchor has finally shared her side of the story.

True Love interview

Speaking to True Love magazine Lilian addressed the issue stating that she “had a public meltdown” which stemmed from the pent-up frustrations from her separation with her now ex-husband.

“I had a public meltdown. I screamed at someone at a restaurant and a patron recorded the entire incident which later went on social media. Now if there is someone who gets affected by social media it would be me. Something like that really gets to me and grounds me to the point I can lock all my doors and really hibernate,” she said.

Lilian revealed how she started drinking to cope with the separation and being in the public eye did not make things any easier.

“I started drinking a lot when I left Josh’s dad. I had moved from Karen, got a new life with Josh, but one day, after three years I realized that I was actually separated and trying to wear a face that everything was okay; all while still looking good on TV.”

Her friends were also nowhere in sight when the scandal broke.

“It was during this time that I realized my friendships were plastic and basic, because apart from my mother and a very distant friend, nobody else called to ask, ‘How are you holding up? How are you feeling about this? What happened’. Instead everyone passed judgement and kept away.”

I got caught up in a scandal and they all disappeared. I would call them and some ignored my calls. Others would answer with ‘I am going to call you back’ yet never did. They were only there for the fun times and that got me thinking that if this job ended today, that would be it.

Despite the negative attention that the video attracted however, Lilian learnt an important lesson from the incident which was:

“Instead of letting it break me, it made me stronger. The whole incident taught me to stop being such an easily ignitable fire, so easy to provoke and irritate.”
