Safaricom lines up international superstar of unmissable live music at Uhuru Gardens

The Safaricom Jazz Lounge which prides itself in bringing together talented musicians from all over the world, has lined up international superstar for a major concert at Uhuru Gardens this Saturday.

Safaricom is known to host Safaricom International Jazz Festival each year in February; but in addition to that, the telecommunications giant also hosts Safaricom Jazz Lounge twice a year.

Apart from entertaining Kenyans with a cocktail of the sweetest mix of Jazz music, ALL proceeds from Safaricom Jazz go towards supporting Ghetto Classics; a non-profit, community-based programme that seeks to transform the lives of youth from underprivileged backgrounds by introducing them to the world of live jazz and classical music.

Ghetto Classics aims at transforming lives of over 650 children in Korogocho, Huruma, Dandora and Mukuru kwa Reuben, as well as students from Farasi Lane Primary School and Muthangari Primary School in Nairobi. The programme uses music education to provide the youth with opportunities to better themselves.

The Safaricom Jazz Lounge is bringing Roberto Fonseca Quartet, with special guest Fatoumata Diawara. Roberto has been described by The New York Times as a “charismatic spark plug of a pianist from Cuba,” and made his debut at the Havana International Jazz Festival in 1990 when he was just15.
