“My uncle molested me.” Bridget Achieng shares harrowing life story of sexual assault, forced marriage and working as a house girl
This season of Nairobi Diaries saw the cast members enjoy mended friendships, form new alliances, survive broken relationships and serve up some drama. And it was in this season that we got to meet Bridget Achieng who is the break-out star of the season.

But beneath that vivacious reality star is a child whose personality was shaped through some horrendous episodes in her life.
Growing up in the sprawling slums of Kibera was not easy as Bridget revealed during a recent episode of her You Tube show.
“Bridget Achieng is a girl who has grown up with a lot of hate, a lot of anxiety. I have grown up without love and affection and I’ve learned to carry myself with pride and just put up that face (front)that I’m not going through anything but I’ve been through some sh*t in my life. "She says before going to narrate about one of the darkest periods in her life.

“When I was 12 my father passed away and I was left with my uncle who used to molest me when I was a kid. When I cried for help, no one could hear me because my mum used to come home late when she was very tired and she didn’t have time because of the younger kids…But I would never blame her for she paid our bills.” She disclosed.
Following this horrific time in her life Bridget revealed that she grew up with a strong dislike for men.
“I just hated men but as time went on, I’m at peace with it now. Like I always say, I’m at peace with my past. I’m at peace but I’ve not forgotten things that have happened to me.” She revealed.
Later after this horrific experience, Bridget went to high school here she was expelled. She joined another school in Webuye where she finished her school education. Soon after high school, her mother told her that she must get married or leave her house.
Bridget chose the latter and she used to spend nights at Kencom with a yellow paper bag because her best friend could not house her.

Her life changed momentarily because she used to go to Winners Chapel since she liked to dine with the rich.
It’s through that church where she got a job as a house girl. Unfortunately her boss had a heart of stone and refused to pay her for two months despite all her hard work.
She left the house after realising that the lady would not budge and pay her so she went back to Kibera and started braiding hair for about a week. She got a small house in Kibera before moving to Jamhuri Estate to work as a house help.
She later got a job as a secretary in a law firm and the woman who employed her paid her school fees sos he could do some courses in IT before later taking her to campus.
After campus, she reconciled with her mother and also started her own jewelry line and things started looking up for her.

Unfortunately, when she started getting famous especially on social media thanks to her provocative photos, she was shunned and judged by her fellow church members so she quit church.
She later went on to launch her own fashion line which she says cost her more than 1 Million Kshs.
