Nyota Ndogo in mourning

This was after losing Andrew, a man who came to her rescue and gave her a leg up in music when she was still a househelp. She said were it not for the man she would probably still be a househelp as he recorded her first album and promoted it.

“Baada babangu mzazi kufariki dunia huyu ndiye kama babangu mlezi kimziki. Maisha yangu kufanikiwa kimziki mizizi ni huyu alinipa fursa kirecord studio kwake buree jina Nyota alinipa yeye pia hivi machozi yanindondoka maana uchungu naohisi kama ule nilohisi babangu mzazi alipotuwacha ..kama sio madebe nahisi ningekuwa bado kijakazi ,kumjua @teddjosiah ni huyu huyu madebe ..katika mawasiliano yangu nayeye alikuwa akiniambia anasubiri kifo chake tu maana alikuwa kapooza mwili mzima jamani ni njia tutapita sote Allah akufanyie wepesi adhabu zako Dua njema. Huku naimba na kulia couse rafiki kanitenda. Huyu jamaa amenitoa mbali sana” She disclosed. (After my father died this man became my father in music. He gave me the opportunity to record in his studio for free and gave me the name ‘Nyota’. I am in so much pain much like the pain I felt when my father passed away. If it weren’t for this man I feel like I would still be a househelp. I met producer Ted Josiah through this man. During my talks with him during his last days he told me that he was waiting for death. This man has taken me from far)

She then went on to share a photo Andrew had taken while she was still a househelp.

Nakumbuka hapa nilikua bado mfanyikazi wa nyumbani lakini nilikua nimeshamaliza kufanya album nzima kwa studio yake sasa anakimbia yeye kwa maredio kupeleka nyimbo zangu zichezwe na yes zilichezwa sana. Walikua wakija wasanii wakubwa kutoka Nairobi na waliopo Mombasa wakati huo Andrew ananiombea show anapigia boss wangu simu kuimba kama naweza kwenda show maana bado nilikua mfanya kazi wa ndani. Alinipiga picha hio kwa moja za show hizo. Tulipiga show nyingi bure kwakutaka kujulikana. Saizi mwambie chipukizi akiskia show akaombe ili ajulikane wallai atakutukana.” (Translation: Andrew took this photo of me. I remember I was still a househelp and I had just completed my first album at his studio and he took it to radio stations who played my songs a lot. For me to perform my songs in public, Andrew used to ask my boss for permission to go for shows and during one of those shows, he took this photo of me. We did a lot of free shows together before I became well known, if you tell any upcoming artiste nowadays to perform for free I swear they will insult you.)
