Speaking when she toured the country to launch her new album ‘Money Mondays’ Vanessa said that East African music has not been received with the greatness it should.
The singer disclosed that she went to a club and the only music that was played from outside Nigeria was Diamond Platnumz’s that he features Nigerian dancehall artiste Patoranking ‘Love you die’ and her song ‘Move’ that she features Reekado Banks.
“Hapa Nigeria haupo kabisa muziki wa Tanzania, haupo kwa nguvu ambayo unatakiwa kuwepo kwa sababu tunaelewa muziki wetu ni mkali, wasaniii wetu ni wakali. Kidogo wanauzito wa kupokea muziki wa East Africa, jana nilikuwa club nilisiki nyimbo za Tanzania ambazo zinapigwa ni ile Diamond na Patoranking na ya kwangu na Reekado ‘Move’ hakuna nyimbo nyingine inapigwa hata ya Afrika Mashariki,” she said.

Vanessa who was speaking to Tanzania’s Clouds FM also said that it is not that the Nigerian industry does not recognize music from East Africa but they have decided to give their music a first priority.
She added that Nigeria has many artistes which makes it hard for outside music to get a place in the Nigerian market.
