Times FM forced to apologize after Diamond’s “abusive” interview

The station was under investigation

In a letter, the radio station apologized to the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports, the Assistant Minister Juliana Shonza, Tanzania Communications Regulation Authority (TCRA) and the general public saying that it was not their intention.

The letter signed by the Station Manager Amani Misano said that the singer used harsh words against the Assistant Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports contrary to their expectations.

“Following the misunderstanding that occurred on 19 March on The Playlist show hosted by Omary Tambwe (Lil Ommy), we had invited Diamond Platnumz to appreciate and award him for his contribution to the music industry, creating employment to the youth and flying high the Tanzanian flag through the art of music,” said the letter.

The station went ahead and awarded Diamond Platnumz one of their awards ‘Plaque Award’ for being Best Male artiste, Best International Act, as well as being the Artiste with most influence.

Diamond had expressed displeasure with the government banning two of his songs from getting played along with several other artists claiming that they did not know what it took for artistes to come up with the songs.

He also claimed that they had not written to him officially, something that caused a serious exchange of words between him and the Assistant Minister on social media.

Diamond has since met with the Ministry officials and made peace with Assistant Minister Shonza and the regulatory body.
