Top Standard Group Editors Sacked [Full List]

This is no the first time Standard Group has sacked its employees

Among those who were shown the exit door include the Weekend News Editor Mwaniki Munuhe, who was in charge of the Weekend Editions at the media company.

Others in the long list are Weekend Editions Deputy Managing Editor Fred Waga, whose position was scrapped, and former Weekend Editions News Editor Biketi Bikech, whose contract was not renewed.

Former bureau chiefs Luke Anami, Karanja Njoroge and Alex Kisia have also exited the company. Njoroge, who was in Eldoret, and Kisia, formerly the Kakamega boss, had been redeployed to Nairobi just before the August 8 General Election.

Anami, a former Kakamega bureau chief, had also been redeployed to cover the courts in Nairobi.

Other casualties of the retrenchment are weekend sub-editor Maureen Odira and reporter Lonah Kibet.

Waga, Biketi and Munuhe’s exit is said to be the most dramatic due to the depleted manpower for the weekend editions, which is already suffering from the abolition of the investigations desk.

Those affected by the retrenchment were counselled on Monday, after being issued by their Letters on Friday.

According to sources each Managing Editor was asked to bring a list of those who should be let go.
