Why Betty Kyallo hates watching herself on TV

We like watching her but she doesn't like watching herself.

This is because she is so critical of herself and often nitpicks at how she sat or behaved when on screen.

“I don’t like watching myself because I’m always critical. ‘Betty that angle you were sitting wasn’t nice, you should have sat better.’ At times, I watch myself to see the areas I can improve on.” She revealed to the Star newspaper.

And it’s not only her visual appearance that drives her up the wall but also the sound of her own voice on TV and radio.

“I also don’t like to hear my voice on TV or on radio, not because it’s bad but because I find it weird,” She added.

Hearing her voice and criticising herself are not the only challenges she has faced on screen, she has faced challenges when it comes to how she looks. And her concern for a while was the scar on her neck. A scar that resulted from a freak accident that led to the loss of half of her face ages ago. Betty confessed that she felt conscious about the scar on her neck and would hide it from her bosses.

Speaking of her first day on TV, Betty said “I was sweating and also conscious of the big scar on the neck. If my bosses see my scar, maybe they will say I’m not good for TV. I was like, oh my goodness, let me hide it. The first time I went on air, I wore a high-collar shirt to hide the scar. I did that for such a long time but slowly by slowly, I started feeling comfortable in my skin.”
