Making the announcement, Zari wrote “They say the colour purple is the colour of Royalty, and royalty is in my blood. So come join me at Uhuru Gardens Nairobi - Kenya 12 May, 2018 at the Color Purple Concert and to all my sexy ladies, there will be free Cancer Screening. Can't imagine y'all in those purples.”

This visit comes months after Zari announced that she would not be attending the Founders Entrepreneurship Forum (TEFO) slated for November 17, 2017.

This was due to ‘unforeseen circumstances on the side of the organizers of the event.’

A statement issued by TEFO Africa founder's Moranga Innocent disclosed that the political developments in the country were not ideal for their international speakers such a Zari Hassan.

The political development in this situation was said to be the arrival of opposition leader Raila Odinga after one week in the U.S.A.

“Following consultation with the local authorities, the police and Zari Hassan’s management it was determined that the political developments in Nairobi and the effects of the activity that will be happening at the airport, Mombasa Road and in town that same day have proved possible to pose a risk to our international speakers that were to arrive at the airport that day, guest and attendees that were due to attend.” The statement read.

The organization went on to reveal that they had come up with an alternative date which would be communicated once they take into account the political climate, availability of speakers and the general security.
