5 hilarious challenges that went viral in Kenya in 2017
Last year, the internet was flocking with hilarious social media challenges and 2017 was not different.
Some challenges nailed it in bringing out the humor while others just fell flat.
Pulse Live Kenya compiled a list of some of the funniest viral challenges of 2017.
1.Jimi Wanjigi challenge
Billionaire businessman Jimi Wanjigi made headlines in October this year after his Muthaiga home was raided by the recce and flying squad on speculations that he was harboring explosives and dangerous weapons.
During a press statement after the 72 hour raid on Wanjigi’s home, a photo of Wanjigi’s wife, Irene Nzisa Wanjigi, holding on to him made its way around social media and of course Kenyans were quick to create a challenge from it.
2.Muhoho challenge
President Kenyatta’s son became the center of attention during a Jubilee campaign trail in Nandi County after he struggled to read a speech in Kiswahili from his phone.
Kenyans were left in stitches after Muhoho’s speech and didn’t waste any time imitating the young lad.
Muhoho was accompanied by Deputy President William Ruto during the campaign trail.
3.Githeri man challenge
Martin Kamotho’s life took a surprising turn during the elections after a photo of him eating githeri while waiting to vote went viral.
Kenyans were quick to pick up on the funny photo and started photoshopping Kamotho into different photos with Kenyan politicians and he even made it to Game of Thrones.
4.Eye-witness challenge
Dennis Muigai Ngegi otherwise known as the eyewitness was spotted at the scene of two fatal accidents – the Lake Nakuru helicopter crash and days after at the road accident that claimed the life of Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru- which sparked the curiosity of many Kenyans.
In what they termed as the #eyewitnesschallenge, Kenyans started mimicking Muigai’s signature glasses look and ear piece.
5.Inauguration challenge/Wakipisha tunapisha challenge
Devised from NASAs “wakihesabu tunahesabu” statement during the general election, Kenyans mimicked President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto’s inauguration ceremony on November 28, 2017.
