“Mchunge sana!” Hessy's message to looters in Gikomba fire
The dreaded cop has sent out a serious warning after the fire which is suspected to be an arson attack.
Eyewitnesses said that the fire broke out at around 3 am and by 8 am the inferno was still raging on. The firestorm proved to be a formidable force for Nairobi firemen who had to rush to Globe Cinema roundabout for water from the section’s toilets. Congestion and inaccessibility to the market further frustrated the firefighting process.
They also sought help from the G4S firefighting team to quell the raging beast. In its wake, the fire left devastation and the loss of property worth billions of Kenya shillings. This is according to the National Disaster Management Unit.
Reports indicated that this could have been an arson attack by rival traders. Reports that forced the Devolution CS Mwangi Kiunjuri to promise stern action against the culprits. The Devolution CS said the government has set in motion investigations to establish the cause of the fire. “Let it be known that stern action will be taken on the culprits should the investigations establish foul play,” The CS added.
The president also promised to investigate the fire and those found culpable would ‘face the full force of the law’.
After the disaster one of Nairobi’s most dreaded cops, Blackest Widow who is one of the Hessys sent out a stern message to thieves who engaged in a looting spree as the fire razed down the market.
“ It's truly painful to see the loss that has just befell on #Gikomba_Market as a result of the fire outbreak that is said to have started at 3 am this Morning. May the Almighty re-candle their paths.” The Blackest Widow wrote before sending a stern warning to those preying on the situation.
“And to those taking advantage of the situation...Mchunge sana!!Vijanaa wameamua kujilea...unang'ang'ana na bale ya nguo kubwa kuliko maisha yako...sawasawa...”
