19 pupils caught engaging in homosexuality in a Kitale Primary School
The students had been drinking alcohol and engaging in homosexuality
The discovery was made when one of the parents went to school to report that her son had returned home while drunk.
Recruitment
At that point the boy, a Class Eight pupil, confessed that they had been drinking alcohol and engaging in homosexuality together with other pupils.
The boy claimed he was the one recruiting other pupils into the practice, adding that their leader is a well-known trader from Kipsonga village.
Confirming the shocking revelation, the headteacher, Mr. Wahome Ngunyi, said the pupils had been put on a guidance and counselling program to help them out of the nasty behavior.
Treatment
“It is very shocking to learn that our boys have been engaging in homosexuality. We have even taken one of the boy to the district hospital for treatment and we have a report confirming this,“ said the headteacher.
Mr. Ngunyi further urged the parents to be keen and report any unusual behaviour in the children.
Several pupils at the school, which has about 550 learners, confessed that they have been taking alcohol since they were in Class Four.
Misusing Students
“We have been taking alcohol since Class Four then one of our teachers who left this school told us to stop,” said a girl at the school.
The headteacher blamed the alcohol dens located near the school for the erosion of the students’ behavior, adding that some of the civilians had been misusing the students.
The school management is now liaising with neighboring schools to ensure that learners in the area are protected from any negative influence.
