7 important medical tests men should have
Men, prevention is better than cure.
You look and feel great so what’s the point of stressing out and poking at matters that may be non-existent – we’re talking about possible health complications.
While optimistic thinking is always welcome, it is still important and necessary to prevent any future issues.
Check out the 7 medical tests that men should make sure they have.
1.Testicular cancer
Testicular cancer is common in males between the ages of 15-35 years old.
Testicular tests can be done by holding the penis out of the way and checking one testicle at a time. The testicle should be held between the thumb and the fingers of both hands and gently rolled between the fingers. If you feel any lumps, changes in size or anything unusual then seek medical advice.
Testicular tests should be taken every month especially if you have a family history of testicular cancer or if infertile.
2.Cholesterol levels
If you are in your 20s and 30s and have a family history of heart disease, it is important to make sure you check your cholesterol levels every two years.
If above 40, experts advise you check your cholesterol levels with every medical check-up you have.
3.Blood pressure
If you are in your 20s and 30s, you should have your blood pressure checked every two years and once a year after clocking 40.
4.Skin cancer test
All men from the age of 40 should ensure that they get a skin cancer test done every year. Early detection of skin cancer will raise the chances of successful treatment.

6.Colonoscopy
If you have a family history of colon cancer then you should have your first colonoscopy at the age of 40. If not, you should have your first colonoscopy at the age of 50.
Colonoscopies are repeated every 5-10 years but for those with a family history of colon cancer then getting the test done every 3-5 years is necessary.
7.Type 2 diabetes
Diabetes tests should be taken every three years especially for men that are overweight, have a family history of diabetes or high cholesterol levels.
