Avoid eating this type of food if you want to get pregnant

Foods not to eat to increase your chances of getting pregnant.

This is according to a study published in the journal called Human Reproduction that was released on Thursday last week.

Consuming burgers, pizza, deep-fried chicken and any other fast food four or more times in a week could cause a delay in conception; an extra month to be more precise.

Lead researcher of the study and professor at the University of Adelaide in Australia, Claire Robers, emphasized on the importance of a good diet when it comes to conception saying that “eating a good quality diet that includes fruits and minimizing fast food consumption improves fertility and reduces the time it takes to get pregnant”.

The study

Close to 5600 women were studied while they were in the early stages of their pregnancies, with the focus being on what they ate in the months before conception.

The study was conducted after data was gathered through questionnaires by midwives between 2004 and 2011 in Australia, Britain and New Zealand for the Screening for Pregnancy Endpoints (SCOPE) survey.

Findings of the research found a link between avoiding to eat fruits and frequent consumption of fast food as well as a longer time taken to get pregnant or a higher risk of infertility.

Further prompts into the study discovered that eating a lot of fast foods as opposed to not eating them at all increased the chances of not getting pregnant by 41 percent.

All the women studied were first time mothers and 340 of them had received some type of fertility treatment before getting pregnant.
