Maasai culture makes it to the Billboard Music Awards
Not only has the mother of one been instrumental in helping to shape the American music industry but she has also been known to be quite the fashionista since stepping out into the limelight.
She has always been one to experiment with different styles and putting her own twists to her ensembles and her stage look while performing at the Billboard awards was no different.
She decided to draw some inspiration from the Maasai culture, pairing her sparkling gold sweatshirt and thigh high shoes with Maasai beaded necklaces and bangles to complement her look.

Janet has paved the way for a lot of artists in the American music industry with the likes of Ciara and Keri Hilson regularly citing her as their musical inspiration.

The Icon Award sets to recognize the contributions of artists in the American music industry.
