The change can make your skin look dull and you may end up looking older than you actually are.

One of the biggest mistakes that most people do during this time however is neglecting their skin care routine completely unaware that the drop in temperature during the cold season not only takes moisture out of the air but out of their skin as well.

Here are some tips on how to keep your skin healthy and glowing even during the cold season.

Take quick warm showers

As good as a long hot shower feels during the cold season, the hot water actually strips out the natural oils and water in your skin thus drying it out.

Instead shower using warm water and limit your shower time to 15 minutes or else.

Do not turn up the heat in your home during the cold season

It is very tempting to use your heater to help turn up the temperatures in your house but raising the heat actually dries up the air and eventually ends up drying up your skin as well.

Your skin then becomes dry, flaky, itchy and this can be very uncomfortable.

Apply moisturizer when your skin is still damp after showering

Apply a body moisturizer, preferably a cream than a lotion, when your skin is still damp.

Such moisturizers help to retain and replenish your skin’s moisture.

Bonus tip: Do not roughly rub down your skin with a towel, rather part it dry to remove excess water from your body.

Ease up on skin exfoliation

Reduce the use of face masks and exfoliating scrubs to avoid irritating your skin during this cold season.

Wear soft clothing

Avoid wearing irritating fabrics like wool or polyester especially when they are directly in contact with your skin. Try stick to cotton fabrics.
